Based in Houston, Texas, the company gets its name from Joette “Joey” McClellan, who passed away in 2008 after a hard-fought battle with breast cancer. Joey Co. was founded by Joette’s daughters, Johnna and Jillian, and their husbands, Travis and Nate, when both families learned they were expecting little ones within a few weeks of each other. Frustrated with the low quality and high cost of baby products, they committed to creating better alternatives that families can afford.

Many of Joey Co.’s products are based on Montessori play, a system that encourages independent exploration and learning. Founder Maria Montessori once said, "Play is the work of the child," and we focus on executing this vision by providing clean, simple products that foster reality-based learning and development.
